A beginner's guide to blogging with Blogger

Many people still do not know how to start a blog. For them, I decided to publish a guide for beginners to blogging with bloggers. There are three options to get started: Free (wordpress.com, blogger, Tumblr), commercial (Squarespace), and self-hosted (WordPress.org, Joomla, Drupal) blogging platforms.

If you want to spend a few dollars on a domain name and hosting, WordPress is the right choice. Here is a beginner's guide to WordPress. If you don't want to spend $1, Google Bloggers is a trial option to start a blog.

A beginner's guide to blogging with Blogger includes:

  1. Introducing blogger.com
  2. Prepare a blogger
  3. Dashboard in a nutshell
  4. Make the first post
  5. Theme and layout
  6. Blog settings

What is blogger.com? And what can I do?

Blogger is Google's free blog publishing tool that lets you post anything you want, including photos, videos, text, and links.

Start with a blogger

As a blogger, all you need to start a blog is a Gmail account. You can use this account to create as many blogs as you need. After logging in to https://blogger.com/, click [New Blog] on the left, and a popup will appear, enter the blog title and next blog address (nameblog.blogspot.com) and it's attractive. Choose a template and create a blog!

Enter the title of the blog here.

Enter the blog address here.

Dashboard in a nutshell

Here, you have created a new blog. Now open your dashboard to see it, this is where you can manage your entire blog. Blogger's dashboard is simple, located in a vertical bar on the left, and beginners will find its features easy to navigate.

The first thing you will see is an overview of your blog with the number of page views per day and above all the number of posts, the number of comments, and the number of followers. You will also find it useful in the lower right corner. Links in the blogger directory that you can use.

Make your first post

The first thing you need to know is the difference between a post and a page, and we explained it for WordPress and it also applies to bloggers.

So what to post?: Post whatever you want like family profiles, info, photos, videos, links, and more.

How do I Post?: In your dashboard menu, under the Overview option, you will see that Posts are open and you will create a new post.

On the post editor screen, you will see Compose View and HTML View options. To start with, we recommend using the Build (Compose View) option. Give your post an appropriate title and describe it with text, images, and videos that you like.

You can find the content editor at the top, and once you've created your post, click Save to save your post as a draft, Preview to preview your post, and Publish to publish your post. Click View Blog at the top and you'll see your blog in a new tab.

Pages - The next thing is to add pages. You will see the home page by default, you can add as many pages as you like to the page, blog page, and contact page and adjust the settings by dragging and dropping them one by one and displaying the pages as a main tab or side link.

Themes and layouts

Layout is where you organize and manage the layout of your blog. To add a logo to your blog, click Edit Title, select an image, and upload it. You can add multiple gadgets to your sidebar, and gadgets are add-ons that add more functionality to your blog. Click "Add a gadget" and you will see a list of available gadgets. Edit the footer content according to your copyright, and you can't remove the "powered by blogger" text.

In the template options, you can preview your blog samples for mobile and desktop. Click "Customize" and you'll see a number of options where you can choose a template, choose a background to change your theme; customize width, layout, font style, font color, CSS, and more. Your changes will be previewed below and you can choose the right design for your blog.

Your blog settings

When you open the settings, you will first see the "basic settings" where you can change the title, description, favicon, and privacy of your blog. You can change your blog address if you wish.

In the posts and comments settings, you can change the number of posts that appear on the front page and set who comments on your blog.

Choose the language, enable transliteration, and set the time zone for your blog in the language and formatting settings

You can set your search preferences and add robots.txt, which is not recommended for beginners. If you want to import or export your blog, use other settings and you can add a Google Analytics ID that tracks data about your blog traffic. Also, you can easily integrate Google Adsense from the dashboard menu, which we have not included in this topic.

Now we hope you have a complete idea for those new to blogging with Blogger. If you have any questions about Blogger, leave a comment below so our team members can help.

Happy blogging!
